MAJIC
Music, Art, Youth, Innovation & Culture

MAJIC is much more than just an acronym: it’s the alchemy of a lively and inspiring place, where music, art, youth, innovation and culture intertwine and nourish each other.

Anchored in the heart of the Grand Orb region, MAJIC is a veritable showcase of talent. It offers local young people a stimulating environment in which to express their sensibilities, develop their skills and explore new horizons. Thanks to its music school, its fablab open to experimentation, and the Micro-Folie scheme that brings culture within everyone’s reach, MAJIC is a crossroads of emancipation and discovery.

More than just a place, MAJIC is an impetus: that of a region that believes in the power of culture and innovation to support future generations.

Imagination as material

MAJIC’s graphic identity revolves around the concept of construction, seen both as an act of creation and as a process of self-building – a way of enriching the mind through imagination and creativity. This idea also refers to the building itself, evoking the stones of Château Baldy.

This concept is graphically translated by the brick, represented in two distinct ways. On the one hand, in reference to screens, through the use of pixels. This approach echoes pixel-art, a digital artistic movement born of video game and Internet culture. It is expressed here through a stylized representation of the building in the logotype, designed in the manner of a “tile set” in the tradition of 1-bit pixel-art, as well as through a series of pictograms also created in pixels.

On the other hand, the construction concept is embodied in a system of cartouches, graphic units evoking information bricks. Whether they contain text or pictograms, these cartouches establish a dialogue between two colors from the chromatic palette. This play of inverted color relationships goes beyond the simple aesthetic dimension: it contributes to the construction of a structured visual language, where contrast becomes a tool for reading, organizing and prioritizing content. Each cartouche thus contributes to the construction of a coherent whole, both modular and meaningful.

Above all, the logo evokes the concept of construction, as an act of creation, but above all as a process of self-building, of enriching the mind through imagination and creativity. It also refers to the stones of the château itself.

The concept of construction represented by the brick is graphically translated here by the use of pixels, echoing screens and thus the idea of the digital.

It also echoes the practice of pixel-art, popularized by video games and Internet culture, here through the synthetic representation of the building in the manner of a “tile set” in the graphic tradition of retro pixel-art.

Building a sign, building meaning

The logotype is based on the two founding elements of graphic identity: the pixel and the cartouche system. The Château Baldy, an emblematic element of the town of Bédarieux, is represented in pixel-art and takes the form of an acronym set in a square cartouche, thus asserting its role as a central visual landmark for this identity and for local residents.

The “MAJIC” typographic block is composed in Akkordeon, a typeface whose richness of weights and variability evoke the breath, rhythm and movement of accordion playing, while echoing the wider world of music.

The baseline, meanwhile, is composed in TT Interphases. Originally designed for digital interfaces, this variable typeface combines legibility, modernity and functionality, while reinforcing the link with the digital imagination.

Colors that give way to creativity

MAJIC’s chromatic palette deploys a wealth of nuances that tell the story of its identity. Warm hues evoke the warmth of encounters, the substance of instruments, the momentum of exchanges, the rhythm of movement – all echoes of culture, art and music.

In contrast, cooler tones suggest the digital world, innovation and technology, making MAJIC a creative, open-minded modern company.

The hues and two-color effects between text, pictograms and solid colors, but also present through its application to iconography, are inspired by the chromatic settings of old computer monitors, evoking the contrasting worlds of the 1-bit graphics from which they originated.

Hello world

The pictograms designed for MAJIC contribute to the creation of a coherent visual universe, a direct extension of the pixel aesthetic, the central element of the graphic identity. Created in pixel-art, they adopt a playful, expressive iconography that invites exploration, creation and discovery.

Each pictogram evokes, in a synthetic and stylized way, references from the worlds of music, artistic creation, digital, youth and culture. With their formal simplicity and symbolic richness, these pictograms reinforce MAJIC’s graphic imagination while building an original visual language linking past and future.

The signage extends the construction principle that structures the entire graphic identity. It is organized around a system of colored cartridges: one accommodates a typographic block composed in Akkordeon, while a second, adjacent, contains a pictogram related to the content being signposted. The two elements are visually differentiated by the inversion of their chromatic relationships, while at the same time forming a harmonious whole.
