Good Evening #10: Forms of the Vernacular

To celebrate this tenth anniversary edition, Bonsoir is venturing outside its usual venue to invite you to CIRDOC—the Occitan Institute of Culture. On this occasion, the LeMurduMilieu collective and Studio Asensò will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of an art exhibition developed as a follow-up to the residency held at Roueïre, the Center for Arts and Heritage, in 2026.

This event will focus on the vernacular: the forms, gestures, customs, and stories that emerge from a region and help shape its identity. How can we observe, collect, and interpret them, and then present them in a published format?

Through a series of discussions, this evening will explore the various stages of designing a published work—from the collaboration between artists, designers, and artisans, to the invitation extended to readers to handle, rearrange, and reclaim the publication.

Founded in 2018 in Béziers by Alexandre Gilibert and Sophie Rosales—who were joined in 2022 by Mylène Fritchi-Roux and UnMonde2food—the LeMurduMilieu collective blends visual arts, publishing, installations, and performances. It breaks down barriers between artistic practices and creates shared forms in which objects, taste, and graphic design become spaces for shared experiences.

As the founder and artistic director of Studio Asensò, Romain Diant has been working for nearly twenty years with cultural institutions, local governments, and businesses to develop their visual identities and editorial projects. His work explores how graphic design can reveal a region, convey a narrative, and give tangible form to the customs and heritage that define it.
